After over 20 years of counseling individuals, couples, and families, I have unequivocally learned that people will do the best that they can, at any given moment, with the resources they have. A person without knowledge will act unknowingly, hurt people will hurt people, people with addictions will pursue their destructive habits in the face of useful advice, and people who have hope will thrive. After serving hundreds of clients in the Criminal Justice System for three decades, I found that most people who ended up there lacked the prerequisite knowledge or skills to make a better choice at the moment.

My Master’s degree in clinical psychology and a doctorate in human services have prepared me to work with people with many different clinical issues. My Christian beliefs play an essential role in my life and treatment philosophy. I believe that anyone can change if given the opportunity and the right resources. I apply a systemic therapeutic model. Systemic therapy seeks to understand the individual in relationship with others, rather than in isolation.

Using a four-step metamorphosis model that starts with exploration and ends with maturation, I work collaboratively with clients to identify their deeply rooted behavior patterns that may have developed early in childhood. I am a highly engaged therapist. I use up-to-date research, real-life stories, and humor to engage with my clients. I am most rewarded when I see them discover the many “aha” moments that result in a positive metamorphosis of healing.
